ive owned bot 1.6 and 1.8 petrol/diesel focus and escort and for shear comfort and reliability i would choose a focus

BUT

i still went back to an escort..... the escort has more character than the focus, its easily modified, parts are cheaper aswell.

i needed a new headlight for the focus (mk1) and the avarage price was £50 - for ONE headlight!!!! i got a pair os escort ones for a tenner!!

the only thing this escort hasnt got that my focus did is ABS and T/C. my escort has:-

A/C
heated front/rear screens
heated washer jets
electric/heated mirrors

plus the rest of the focus's spec lol

if your looking for comfort and reliability, go for the focus, if you want a giggle and somthing practical, cheap to run/maintain/insure/mod etc then go for the escort
